Summary
AxiaNET registers and manages .uk domain names as a Nominet channel partner. All .uk domains are governed by Nominet's Terms and Conditions of Registration and its Dispute Resolution Service (DRS). This page explains, in plain English, how disputes are handled.
What the DRS is for
The DRS is Nominet's independent process for resolving disputes where someone believes a .uk domain registration is an "abusive registration" — broadly, a domain registered or used in a way that takes unfair advantage of, or is unfairly detrimental to, the complainant's rights (for example a trademark).
How it works
- A complaint is submitted to Nominet, and the registrant is invited to respond.
- Nominet offers a free mediation stage to help the parties reach agreement.
- If mediation fails, the complainant can pay for an independent expert to make a binding decision.
- Outcomes can include the domain being transferred, suspended or cancelled, or the complaint being rejected.
Our role
As your registrar, AxiaNET will act on the outcome of a valid DRS decision or a direction from Nominet. We will keep you informed of any dispute affecting a domain we manage for you, and help you understand the process — but the DRS itself is run independently by Nominet, not by us.
More information
The full DRS Policy and Procedure are published by Nominet at nominet.uk. If you have a question about a .uk domain we manage for you, contact helpdesk@axia.co.uk or 01923 333 111.
